Remembering Lana
Last fall a very close friend of mine passed away from colon cancer. It was a shock without any warning. Or at least she didn't pay attention to the signs. I had seen her at her son's wedding and I asked her how she was feeling because she looked a bit peaked but she said it was stress. A couple months later she was gone. Not a week goes by but that I don't think of her and all the things we got to do together. We attended college together, we went to concerts together, we attended retreats and went on trips together. We even moved together, us moving, Lana following. We shopped, we laughed, we shared secrets. We camped together, we sang together, and she was there for graduations and weddings. We built houses in Mexico together. She loved us as only a very dear friend could. It still seems impossible there are no more moments to talk. I just needed to write this down. I have not been able to delete her email address, her last emails, or phone number from my cell phone. It would seem like deleting her. I know she is in Heaven, she knew God in a personal way, but I still miss her. I am thankful for the wonderful memories.
